When Her Stud Came Over

Noise was coming from inside the bathroom. The man leaned closer to the door and heard someone singing inside. He turned the handle and eased himself inside. It took a moment for things to clear for him to make out Bella’s nude form behind the shower stall . . .

When Her Stud Came Over

A car pulled into a quiet suburban street with poplar trees lining the sidewalk. The driver found a place to park his car, turned off his engine, and sat in the quietness of his car, waiting. He glanced at his watch. The time was 06:27 a.m. The street was starting to come alive with the morning sun. The man adjusted his seat, wound down his window, and pretended to doze while keeping watch on a Victorian house across the street.

In that same house, the occupants were long awake and hurrying to start the day, and like every other day, it was one chaos after another.

Bella, a matronly mom of 43, was busy shoving her three kids into the shower one after the other to get ready for school. After that, she headed downstairs to see about everyone’s breakfast. Her husband, Keith, was having his bath; she didn’t need to worry about him, only the three snots ribbing each other rather than bothering to see how much time they had left or if they’d be late to join the school bus. It wouldn’t be the first time, and Bella knew it wouldn’t be the last, either.

This was what she had to contend with every day of the week, especially on Mondays such as today. As much as she loved and adored her kids, she often wished slavery were still in vogue so she could trade them for a two-week holiday to the Bahamas, something Keith had long promised but was yet to fulfil. Oh well, beggars cannot always be choosers.

She stayed earnest through it all, managing to get her kids breakfast, then shooed them out of the house upon the arrival of the school bus. Keith trundled down the stairs, suited up for work with his briefcase in his hand. Bella stopped to give him a thorough inspection, then kissed him and wished him a pleasant day.

“How would you do for the day?” Keith inquired at the doorway. “You got any places to head anywhere, or are you going to be indoors all through?”

“I’ve got to tidy up the house first,” she said. “I’m expecting Theo to come by and help cut the backyard grass. Maybe later, I’ll head to the supermarket to get what we’ll need for dinner.”

“You can always call me if you need anything, darling,” he kissed her again, then made for his car.

Bella waved at him as he pulled out of the driveway and drove off. She exchanged greetings with her next-door neighbour before returning into her home.
